History The Jaarsma Bakery in Pella, Iowa has been offering delicious "Dutch Treats" since 1889, when it was founded by Harmon Jaarsma who used recipes he brought over as an immigrant from Holland. A hundred years ago, Harmon had two brick ovens in the bakery that were fired with wood. After the ashes were brushed out, the bread was put in to bake, followed by the buns, Dutch Letters, cookies, and finally rusks as the ovens slowly cooled down before re-firing. RecommendedEvery time we drive to Pella, we stop at Jaarsma Bakery! It’s an hour drive, but so worth it! Love everything in the bakery. I highly recommend it.
It all is Awesome but, I am pastry fan!! Haven't had much since moving to Colorado.

Since we moved to Iowa we have heard non stop about this bakery. We finally made it over and went twice in one week! everything we have tried is superb. The prices are amazing! I could not believe how great the prices are! The one place my kids go where they can pick out almost anything. The service is always good as well. We will be back again soon!

I went for my first time ! 2 days ago while visiting with my daughter and her family �this was such a cute little Dutch town and loved the bakery!! Great service and wonderful place!!! I’m in California now / I’ll be ordering online for sure !! Until my next visit in person!!!
I like bakeries. I’ve been to many. Jaarsma is the best.
One of our guests from Iowa brings us a care package to South Dakota every time she travels here. Absolutely recommend and wish we had such a bakery here!
