RecommendedI had the winter wedding of my dreams at the Izaak Walton. Everything was perfect. The entire staff was attentive and offered outstanding service. The amenities were fantastic. From planning the wedding to execution every detail was taken care of. I had a stress free perfect day and would highly recommend this establishment.
The best, a long trip on Amtrak but worth it.
Lovely, family-friendly old lodge in a gorgeous setting. Food was delicious and the staff helped untangle some glitches with patience and good humor!
Warm, cozy, welcoming. Great comfort food! Love the sounds, as the trains rattle by in the night.
I must say that the entire stellar staff made this weekend great. The trails were very nicely groomed. The ski rental equipment was top notch. The hot tub was clean and the perfect temperature. Every meal we had was wonderfully prepared. The only downfall is noise from surrounding rooms. I would suggest a third floor room if you are a light sleeper.

I recommend everything. The amenities (especially if you like railroad history, the Great Northern railway plus plenty of modern day rail action courtesy of BNSF Railway), the food and wait staff, being on the door step of Glacier National Park and outdoor activities, the beautiful scenery plus a total relaxing atmosphere. oh, and did I mention the trains.......?
The atmosphere, the historic feel, friendly staff and good food. Everything about Essex. Kind of grew up in the place in the '40s and '50s.
Location !!! Super amazing restaurant- first class. Cozy rooms, quaint and clean.
