RecommendedWe took the Amtrak Empire Builder from Seattle and got off in Essex. The hotel was at the platform to pick us up and take us to the hotel. The hotel is a very neat place. The restaurant is excellent and this place is an all around great place. Highly recommend
Awesome “somewhere in time” kind of place. Would love to spend more time here. Stopped here briefly on Road to the Sun Red Bus tour.

The hamburgers we had was very tasty
Be sure you don’t cancel your reservation!! You can kiss your money good bye. We made a reservation for our 20th anniversary, but my wife couldn’t get the time off work. Called 21 days before the reservation to cancel. I was then informed reservations cancelled within 30 days NO refund. My wife and I travel a lot in Montana and would probably stayed there 4 times a year but I will never stay where the hotel steals money from their prospective guests. Horrible cancellation policy
We chose the Izaak for our wedding reception and guest lodging. I was looking for a place central to East and West Glacier with stunning views and a rustic feel, and the Izaak delivered on all three! The hotel is so tastefully done with homage to the older days of the Great Northern Railway. Be ready to unplug as there is no cell reception here. Brides should note that the cabins/cabooses do not have access to wifi either so it can be difficult to get a hold of guests etc. Rooms are also quite dark - I would recommend the Sc... read more

I love the Cabooses and locomotives that have been converted into nightly rentals. The history of the Great Northern Railroad is rich at the Izaak Walton Inn. Staff has always been so amazing and helpful. Thank You.
