Honestly was a bad experience with the triage nurse. I took my son in for chest pain yesterday. I don't take chest pain lightly. Because island told my daughter she looked fine. Sent her home. 3 months later she had heart surgery. It should not take 40 minutes to be seen for chest pain. I'm starting to find Whidbey General better. I do have to say the lady at the check in desk was very kind at island. We were there before 11 am.
Amazing ER staff! They have the best bedside manner I have seen in any hospital!
Waited nearly five and a half hours in ER to have a cut in my son's head stitched up. Finally got back in to a room where we waited and waited and waited and finally just left. Went home and cleaned it up myself and put butterfly bandages on it. This used to be a great quick place to go and wouldn't go any where else, but after this experience I am very dissapointed. Two weeks ago I had knee surgery at Island Hospital. I am grateful for the care I received .Everyone who cared for me was great and professional and nice. T knee is coming along well.
I was charged almost $15 for the nurse to hand me one of my own oral medications while I was having an outpatient procedure at Island Hospital. My insurance doesn't cover it so I had to pay out of pocket in addition to my $200 copay. They wouldn't waive the charge either. Be very careful at this facility! Also, when I was there the nurse took my temperature a dozen times and the thermometer gave a different reading each time, sometimes a difference of 2 degrees.
