Editorial fromOne rich risotto ably introduces Incanto: stringy calf's brains, blood sausage and chicken thigh bits clinging to rice dusted brown with fragrant cinnamon. A fundamental food group in "la cucina povera," offal may go by the name "nasty…

Very solid dining experience... – For my money, if I want to go to a place where I know what to expect, Incanto is on the short list. Some dishes are terrific, others average, but you get the sense with every visit that they take pride in their craft, and I appreciate that. It's a very refreshing, particularly in this era where people think minimalist decor, loud music and arrogant staff can compensate for subpar food. There aren't too many SF restaurants that can match their effort level on a consistant basis. The wine list... read more
Love it. – I've been here many times & just went again recently after being away for awhile. It was yummy as always. If you want some delicious authentic style italian food, good wine and in a lovely setting - this is it.
small portions – Great place, but the portions are small when compared to the price.
User review by jimd – If you are into Italian wine then nothing compares to Incantos wine bar. They have an excellent selection of wines by the glass. I found the food to be consistently solid during all of my five or six visits. On my recent visit I had excellent dishes such as sardines with radishes and olive oil, cold squab with pine nuts and raisins and a wonderful blood sausage and egg appetizer served in an iron skillet. Desserts are good, not great.
Way overpriced!!!! – My boyfriend and I went to Incanto last weekend-what a disappointment! The food wasn't bad, per se, it was just that it was extremely overpriced and certainly nothing exceptional. We each started with a salad, one of which was over $9 and consisted of about 5 lettuce leaves and 2 "vegetable shavings" (read: 2 pieces of vegetable that were thinner than paper!). Very unimaginative and EXTREMELY overpriced! My entree was equally as disappointing-I ordered the vegetarian option -While costing around $18, my ... read more
Unique experience – I truly enjoyed my food and atmostphere experience at Incanto, but one thing seemed to downgrade the quality of the restaurant. At the bottom of the menu is text that states that 5% will be added to your bill to basically tip the kitchen staff who is not otherwised tipped. Hmmm, I've worked in restaurants in the past and as a server we tipped our busboys and bartenders, but usually not kitchen staff. If these guys are not getting paid enough then maybe mgmt needs to address the issue instead of putting it... read more
needs a little work – This was my 6th visit to Incanto on Church St. In Noe Valley. The food is usually good, but nothing to write home about. We go because it's an easy walk down the street and the have a nice wine list. This visit took the prize however. I ordered a half order of ravioli, which was good, but was served four 3/4" x 1" ravioli on my plate. No garnish, that's it. Laughable.
Probably Great, but Server ruined it for me – My husband took me here for birthday dinner - he'd been before with some chef friends and with his parents and they all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The maitre d was great - sat us early at a pleasant table. Unfortunately, a horrible server ruined it for us. He leaned over us saying "yummy!" several times, but never checked in otherwise. He then proceeded to send my surprise cake to another table. When the other couple realized, THEY came over to apologize and wish me well, b... read more
Incanto Disenchants – The room feels like a fake Italian farm house that you would find in Disneyland. The food unfurtanely is as fake as the decor. Yes some dishes can be tasty but the chef is more interested in doing creative ingredient combinations than on how the food tastes. Italian food is about simplicity and not having to use too many ingredients, had the chef left my ravioli with just broth and not added leaves of arugula, it would have been very good, but not he has to go adding extra stuff to make it look pretty. ... read more
