wow! – My wife and I ate at il posto last evening for our anniversary and it was delightful. Denver has nothing like it. The energy and intensity this place is almost combustible. While, the service and ambiance were top notch, the food is the main attraction. We highly recommend the burrata, this bufala mozzarella is flown in fresh from Naples weekly, and the risotto was well worth the wait. Thank you Il Posto for your fresh and simplistic take on food, we'll be back soon!
Best Italian food outside of Italy. – Il Posto is very "New York" - upscale, sophisticated and happening. Watching the cooks in the open kitchen is a real show! I travel often in the US and Europe so I am accustom to excellent food and Il Posto surpassed my expectations. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Denver. Everyone at our table thought the Carmelle pasta was the best thing they had ever tasted anywhere. The service was excellent, the pasta was al dente, the mozzarella was creamy and the scallops were fresh ... read more
I LOVE THIS PLACE! – It's too bad that the people who wrote the last few reviews haven't had the kind of experience my friends and I have had here. Last night was about the fifth visit for me and I love it more the more I go. The location is perfect; next to a lively and colorful coffeshop and neighborhood bar, which makes it always appear energetic and busy. The huge garage door front windows are open as often as they can be to extend the small space to the patio and surrounding crowd. The hostess has always been very frien... read more
Adventures in Bad Italian Food.... – As a frequent traveller I look forward in discovering new restaurants and supporting local businesses in the cities I visit. I am however sad to report that visiting this local restaurant is not worth the effort. The location, decor and concept are a great idea but, it ends there. I tried several items reluctantly recommended to me from the disinterested waiter who almost seemed bothered that I had asked. The sea bass was salty and undercooked. The other recommendations were bland, tastel... read more
VERY BAD!!! AVOID, AVOID!!! – What a terrible meal! Went there several months ago and it was horrific, but after the 5280 write up, I thought let's give it another chance. Can they get some menus on a piece of paper. We just can't read the menus on the wall and I know everyone keeps complaining about that. Get a clue!! The server recommended the duck and it was the worst, most tasteless preparation I have ever tried to eat, and so was everything else. The chef claims he is from Italy, go figure. Needless to say, 17th has som... read more
When you think it can't get any worse, it does... – Like other reviewers here we were visiting Denver and read the 5280 "review" about this place. Best Italian in Denver? The Olive Garden WILL taste better. Either the editors at that magazine were given a VIP dinner for free or they're sleeping with the chef. Seriously, aside from the hostess, everything about this meal was dreadful. We began with some pasta which we were told wasn't fresh but was "from Italy" which didn't really build anticipation and sure enough the angel ... read more
Great food, interesting place – First off the place is loud. Like, maybe concert loud. Sound carries like crazy in there which is unfortunate considering the waiter has to tell you the menu. (Which I think is really cool, and our waiter was very knowledgable on the menu. The idea of the chalkboards is both a strong connection to the enviornment or most likely cost-reducing-but a good idea either way- they should just put up a few more for easy access.) The menu consisting of a lot of Italian makes you actively listen and int... read more
Outstanding! – A 4 course meal during restaraunt week for less than half the price and all people can do is complain. I've eaten at Il Posto many times and the food is always excellent. While I will agree the service is sometimes questionable, the food is always good. A little objectivity would be nice but thats probably too much to excpect!
Following the Top of the Town rating from 5280 Magazine, we eagerly went for our first visit to Il Posto. No Taste! The most tasty dish of five we sampled was sliced meat and cheese. The signature Gnocchi was inedible, so bitter that we could not eat the dish. We wondered that perhaps we had chosen poorly as the restaurant was quite active with guests enjoying their evening yet our dishes were so bland (3 of the 5 were recommendations). When we asked for salt and pepper, ther server went off is search of seasonings. This may... read more
