When it opened in 1995, Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse was the first of its kind in the city and is among the oldest South Carolinian brew pubs. That is because brew-pubs were allowed in the state after a law was passed in 1994. Its rustic-cozy ambiance is accentuated by antique light fixtures, African tribal decorative elements and wooden furnishing. Nice place, classic beers.
My friend and I ran across this place while in town for a Spartan run. Really enjoyed there craft beer and the food was awesome! A first come first table place, no host, that was a welcomed change. The building is older and well maintained and keep up. Overall this has to be a place to visit even if just traveling through. Just amazing!
