Not what I expected – Upon arrival we see the lobby under construction, carpet ripped up, ceiling torn up and construction lights hanging all over the place. It would have been nice to have been informed of the renovations to the lobby upon making the reservations. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls and windows are not sound proof. From about 7:30am until 6pm we could here construction workers on the 4th floor drilling, sawing, etc. This didnt bother us to bad as we were out of the room ... read more
Overall the Best Hotel period end of story! Best Beds, Starbucks in room, Bathrobes, Pet Fish, Cookies..... – I just reread my review from 1/11/05 and had to laugh......I voted this Best Weekend Getaway for a very good reason people! Yes it's unique, has a cool vibe and is really romantic, but apparently it helps with conception too!!!!! We didn't make it back for New Year's 05 because my daughter was three months old at the time!!!! You do the math....We sure did celebrate New Year's weekend 04 at the Hotel Preston and brou... read more
Great Happy Hour – We came here one early evening to catch happy hour. I was surprised at the food portion for the menu! It is well worth it! The drinks arn't too bad either, they pour decently. Although I must agree with the review before about the music issue. They need to make it not feel like an old man's bar, because it really isn't but sometimes it feels that way. But that is something that could easily be fixed. The atmosphere is cozy, it is a lot smaller than I expected but thats one of the unique things about it. I ... read more
Great Place to Stay in Portland – I was in town just a couple days ago to visit with my daughter and she put me up at the Hotel Lucia. What a fun place to stay. Upon walking in, I felt very welcomed. The staff was friendly and very helpful and when I asked for directions to a store, they immediately pointed me in the right direction. The room was very comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed the soft bed. My daughter mentioned that this hotel had some of the best in Portland and I do believe she is right. While waiting in the lo... read more
I stayed there and I thought you should know... – Hotel Lucia, according to its literature, wants to provide a relaxing yet hip hotel experience. And indeed, visiting Portland from Los Angeles, there were many elements of the place that reminded me of home. That's not a good thing. The place does indeed have a lot of nice amenities: Aveda products, lush bedding, well designed bathrooms. But where Hotel Lucia indeed attempts to make the visitor comfortable, they fall short in the most frustrating, obvious ways. For instance, ... read more
This bar isn't a bad bar but... – This bar isn't a bad bar. It just lacks a couple of things. Better music for one. This one detail failed makes me slightly annoyed. Even "cocktail" Music should be well considered and not just a steady dribble of crooner b sides. The edge between ironic and slaphappyy senile is razor thin already. Another reason this bar completely sucs is the help. I only say HELP because they need some here at The Driftwood Room. Not that there isn't plenty of suitable candidates paired in corners mocking ... read more
We love this hotel! – If you are only in Nashville for the weekend make sure you book this hotel. The location is not the best but once you step inside its worth the trouble. What a fun place to stay. The rooms are nice yet don't smell all that great (its an old building) and there is a great little bar downstairs. Make sure you utilize all the extras that the hotel offers...from complimentary to over the top packages everything is worth it. I usually go ahead and reserve a lava lamp and fish for me when I book because they ... read more
pampering and good service – Stayed at the Hotel Preston to "get away" but not too far away ... and was not disappointed. They strive to be different and are. Really good service, great room, great bed (and linens), the restaurant was good, the staff in the restaurant was great (and nice and talked either just enough or not at all depending on what I wanted), the bar was good (but the bartenders were GREAT), the pool could use some pizazz, but overall it was nice -- and their whole goldfish/lava lamp schtick is cool. They al... read more
Long wait to check-in, otherwise nice – We stayed here for 1 night in October 2006. We arrived at 4pm (check-in is at 3pm) and had to wait 45 minutes to get a room. Normally, it wouldn't have been such a pain, however we had to meet some people within the hour. The hotel was nice, room and parking came to $200 for one night (seemed a little high). Overall, I would recommend once they clean up the check-in process.
Hotel Lucia has a 4.4 star rating with 990 reviews.
Hotel Lucia is open now. It will close at 6:00 p.m.
