This place is history and theme. We stayed on Halloween and it is the perfect creepy hotel. Lighting was dim. Old cold tiling in the bathroom. Chicken wire glass that you cannot see out of. Astrid the owner was pleasent as she shared the history of room 444 with patrons and handed out candy. Location is near history and food and an arcade. Very small elevator. Some rooms are tucked away. Only major complaint was cleanliness. Might be understaffed.

Customer service was excellent and you could tell that employees genuinely loved being a part of this historic hotel. Now in the process of remodel with new ownership but still so many historic details saved. You really feel the spirit of the Old West.

Business response:

Thank you for the outstanding review. The new owner and new staff really make a difference in this hidden gem, and we are glad you noticed. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. Welcome to the Plains Hotel family.

Old historic hotels need millions $$$$ to catch up to date. No outlets available for charging tech stuff or using medical devise.Power strips used, electrical wiring exposed and painted over baseboard color. Breakfast buffet very good except the egg &cheese omelet was a hard pancake.. like egg. no softness to it! More safety handrails for bathtubs, dangerous and slippery bottoms especially stepping in and out for a senior. AC unit in first room broken and front plates missing. Sign posted they need $1 million to upgrade anot... read more

Barbara, I apologize that you did not enjoy your stay at the Historic Plains The Historic Plains Hotel. The hotel is over 100 years old, and we know that there are some flaws in the building, but it's also what makes the building beautiful.

This place is FANTASTIC!!!! What a great restoration of a beautiful historic building! It's more like staying in a museum with all of the antiquities everywhere! Love it!!! If you're high maintenance & want cushy normal run of the mill places go to Days Inn...I'd stay at the Historic Plains EVERY DAY if I could!!

This hotel is a step back in time in the best way! Every possible aspect of its 1911 original architecture is well and beautifully still preserved. From the ghostly history for us ghost enthusiasts to the history's behind its original construction for the history's buff in general, its fascinating because even the rooms are kept as close to original order as possible. And to top all this off, the staff is five star!!! Friendly, courteous and helpful, the prices could easily double and be well worth it. This place is a gem wo... read more

I stayed at the Plains Hotel two nights ago and loved it. Though I had visited Wyoming many years ago, I had never been to Cheyenne. I didn't want to leave. The staff was excellent. There's a whole lot of heart there. If you read the history...and appreciate the culture...this is the place to stay. Being a lover of Western culture, I thoroughly enjoyed the "atmosphere" and plan on staying there in the future because I "will" be back. If you are looking for cookie cutter, glitzy hotels and aren't able to appreciate the histor... read more
