The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

We had to exchange tickets for The Color Purple because my husband had surgery and could not go to the show. The Broadway Across America staff was extremely helpful in working with us to complete the process. Even more impressive was receiving flowers the next day from Broadway at the Hippodrome wishing my husband a speedy recovery! As 12 year subscribers to the Hippodrome, we have always enjoyed the great customer service. This very thoughtful gesture takes service to a whole new level. Thanks Hippodrome!
Enjoy the theater and shows but management needs to do something about people on their phones. The light is distracting to those around the inconsiderate people taking pictures or videos. Please enforce the rules so we can enjoy the shows.
I love attending shows at the Hippodrome. It is an absolutely beautiful theatre. The 2 stars are based on Love Never Dies. I was really looking forward to this sequel to The Phantom of the Opera. I would go back to see Phantom over and over, but I would not recommend Love Never Dies. It was a dark story and did not seem to make sense. I did not enjoy the Coney Island Circus scenes. Regarding the theatre, the air condition was not up to par on Saturday afternoon and the seats are very tight in the balcony.
Just saw Love Never Dies at the Hippodrome Theatre. Brilliant performances by the whole cast. Our 6 year old daughter who is obsessed with Phantom of the Opera, was mesmerised by this performance. She prefers this one over the original Phantom of the Opera. It is a must-see.
Entered lottery for tickets for "Love Never Dies"..fingers crossed
