Best bang-for-your-buck Sushi – You can't find a better place for the quality of sushi you'll get here at a relatively affordable price. It's easily better than your Sushi Macs but still a notch lower than your Nobus of the world.
Excellent prices, excellent FREH fish, great chefs – Hide. Hide. Hide. I go here at least once a week. The chef on the left corner is funny, as well as great. The fish is always top notch in terms of taste, as well as freshness. Prices are great as well. If I am looking for both rolls as well as sushi, there is no other place in my books. On average, I come out very satisfied on about $40 including tax and tip. There are a few downsides to this place, although I'd still highly recommend it. Parking is a headache unless you p... read more
BEST SUSHI EVER!! – Hide is the best sushi in Los Angeles based on cost & quality. Its a cash based place and they have a very thoughtful atm machine inside to make it easy. The combination meals are the bomb. i have never had better tempura anywhere. its the right amount of crispy and hot. The tuna is unbelievable and the only place i will eat salmon sushi is at hide. 2 people can eat... a lot for about $50.00. I thought that sushi roku was the best based on fish freshness but hide is way way better. Its family style sushi,... read more
salmon skin salad and then some... – I have been going to Hide for about 10 years now. Although, it is cash only and often very crowded and closes earlier then most sushi restaurants, I think it is one of the best in L.A. The fish is always fresh and the salmon skin salad is killer...if it's your first time you might want to go for lunch and then move up to dinner, then you know the wait is worth it.
Not bad, but not the best – After being told by numerous people how fabulous this no-frills sushi joint was, I had to try it. Upon first glance, things looked pretty promising: "Cash Only" signs dress the walls, Japanese orders fly through the air and lines of customers eagerly wait to be seated at the cramped sushi bar or tables. But once we began to place our order (salmon nigiri, tuna, albacore) we realized there really aren't any rolls on the menu! The fish was fresh, but it wasn't mind-blowing. The salmon could have bee... read more
The Worst Customer Service EVER! – I have been hearing about Hide as being a great place for great sushi for a great price for the past few years now. Finally, I made the 10 minute journey to Hide with my friend and boyfriend on a Saturday evening. I was excited. The place was very crowded and very small, but I didn't mind waitng 30-45 minutes for what I expected to be one of the greatest sushi experiences ever. Our name was called and the hostess gestured to a two person table in front of us--which was perfectly fine except... read more
I felt like I was back in Japan! – I went to Japan last summer and Hide Sushi reminds me of a typical sushi joint in Japan. It's small, basic, but has fantastic quality fish. It bl0ws my mind away at how fresh the fish is, yet for such an inexpensive price. Hide has a small, basic menu that lacks in creativity...but that's what I love about it! It's traditional and for REAL sushi lovers. Most people who claim to love sushi eat rolls packed with so many ingredients that it fails to showcase the most important ingrediant...the... read more
No fuss, just fish at this neighborhood favorite get-it-to-go sushi spot. – A crowded seating area fills with local Japanese families and trendy Westsiders. Dine-in customers add their names to the list and wait for seats while takeout orders are processed like clockwork. The menu's 40-plus sushi choices concentrate on simplicity: liberal portions of monkfish liver and sweet shrimp are as exotic as it gets. Nigiri and chirashi are standouts on an abbreviated raw-and-cooked combinations menu. In an effort to streamline operat... read more
