The Nurse Practioner at the Newport Hospital said (after the hospital wouldn't admit for 'phototherapy treatment') that this FOR PROFIT may be able to assist. Would highly recommend. I had the pleasure of seeing Kathy. I only wish I had met her sooner. I saw a few lactation consultants elsewhere and they were little to no help. From the minute I met with Kathy she helped me tremendously and quickly figured my situation out. She is so knowledgable and I felt very comfortable working with her. I will certainly be going to her again in the future. The other staff is great too- very friendly and helpful.
Working with Kathy at Healthy Babies Happy Moms saved my bf experience. At the hospital everyone insisted my latch was great so I didn't ask for additional help. However, four days later painful nursing led to badly damaged nipples. Worst of all my son wasn't gaining weight. My pediatrician had HBHM contact me and Kathy saw me the very next day. HBHM has been such a wonderful resource to me on my breastfeeding journey! I've seen Melanie and Kathy, and both were kind and supportive while helping me work through challenges. They were able to see me immediately, and even checked in with me after my appointment to make sure everything was going well.
I had brusing on my nipples from incorrect latching and it made it painful to nurse. HBHM saved me. Their first visit they helped us learn how to nurse through the night and latch better. The second visit, a few weeks later, helped me prepare to return to work (start pumping) and tweak the latch. It was so supportive to have "an expert" help us navigate the unknown. I'm still nursing at 18 months and couldn't be happier. It is a huge connection between me and my daughter.
I couldn't be more satisfied with services from HBHM from initial phone requests, validation, and ease/speed in scheduling in home consult particularly during initial weeks when questions felt urgent. Melanie taught me and my husband so much about breastfeeding in under an hour and recently had a follow up call now that little guy is 5 months. Thank you all for your attentive care and knowledge to ease this new journey. I highly recommend them.
I highly recommended HBHMs to any new moms intending to breast feed. I had Kathy come to the house the day after we got home from the hospital and truly believe that set us up for success. Kathy was very helpful and comforting to me as a first time mom. I really believe this is a must, even if you think you’re “doing it right.” There is no need to struggle through it or just be unsure. Attending the monthly mom group has also been helpful!
