Hama Sushi is always bustling with patrons due to the popularity that this sushi bar enjoys in the Little Tokyo neighborhood. It is especially frequented for its Red Snapper sushi, replete with a tinge of lemon. Their sushi and sahimi is also offered in varieties such as Tuna Toro, Yellowtail Collar, Monk Fish Liver, Uni, Albacore Sashimi, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Salmon Handroll. The appealing visual presentation of the platters, with green leafy garnish, only serves to increase one's appetite. It is better to approach this ... read more

Hama Yama – First off, no udon, no teriyaki, no tempura. OK now that, that's been said get ready for a good meal of sushi. You and 3 feet are all that stand between you and the chef and sushi - put your whole order in early - anago and amago - excellent - japanese only - language - hand rolls are large - cut rolls are tight - sashimi - wow - albacore tuna a must - not much to look at on the wall but nice and simple
best sushi in town – The food here is just fantastic. I'm a sashimi person, and if you want a place that goes beyond the normal tuna / salmon / california roll, this is it. Everything from the sweet shrimp, to the uni, the toro, the clam etc is fresh and extremely well cut (not skimpy slices nor unwieldy hunks). The chefs are really wonderful. Try the grilled yellowtail head. Another great thing - it's open late.
Troponically Livenod – This is by far the best sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. I would rather take the drive from West Hollywood to Downtown to eat here than crawl a few blocks down La Cienega to eat at Matsuhisa. The fish is fresh. The chefs are friendly. And the only thing that's bad about this place is that I am not allowed to live there. Try the Eel/Crab/Avacado roll. And then every other thing they serve.
Try the sashimi – Salmon sashimi is the reason i come to this place. Not only is the price right, but the fish is fresh. They also get extra points for plate presentation. Any one that can make raw salmon into the shape of a rose grabs my attention.
The best – Hama is quite possibly the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to.
Simple Pleasures – No tempura, no rice alone. Such are the hand written signs when you enter Hama. It's sushi and only sushi, but if you want tuna that tastes like it came right off the boat, this is the place. Incredibly friendly chefs who have perfected their art. DON'T GO!... The place will only get more crowded, and I like it the way it isw now!
