Hama Sushi is always bustling with patrons due to the popularity that this sushi bar enjoys in the Little Tokyo neighborhood. It is especially frequented for its Red Snapper sushi, replete with a tinge of lemon. Their sushi and sahimi is also offered in varieties such as Tuna Toro, Yellowtail Collar, Monk Fish Liver, Uni, Albacore Sashimi, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Salmon Handroll. The appealing visual presentation of the platters, with green leafy garnish, only serves to increase one's appetite. It is better to approach this ... read more

A diamond in the rough! – An intimate, warm, and happy place. (Small and very affordable). Rice and seaweed perfected! Delicious salmon, spanish mackeral if you can get it, as well as scallops. Try to get there as soon as they open, it will be far less crowded. Cheers to you Hama!
NIGHTMARE AT SUSHI BAR! – I travel to la every two weeks for business, usually la has many good sushi bars, this one was a nightmare, the raw fish here is not good quality, service here is no where, the owner is very rude and crude, hope when i comeback to la nexttime i have better meal!
Hama Sushi has Hamazingly Poor Customer Service – I usually go to Komasa or Izayoi in Little Tokyo, but tonight they were closed so my group of five opted for Hama Sushi, which is in the same vicinity and has comparable prices. We were never given a wait time, but stood in the doorway patiently. One hour went by and in we inquired to find out how much longer for a table. We were told by an aloof waitress that it would be 30 more minutes. It seemed pointless to leave after waiting so long, so we waited another 30 to 45 minute... read more
YUM!!!!!! – So delicious. My husband and I stumbled in here accidentally, a day after we moved to L.A.! Since then, every single person we have brought here, natives and visitors alike, will never go to another sushi place in L.A. It's tiny, but soooooo worth it. Don't order all your sushi at once, like many first timers do, just order one or two things at a time. BEST spicy tuna handrolls EVER. I'm serious. I don't normally get spicy tuna... but GET IT... you will NOT be disappointed! The rest of their sushi is amazing too.... read more
Best Spicy Tuna Handrolls – I'm not a huge spicy tuna fan but this place honestly makes the best spicy tuna handrolls ever - great balance of spicy flavors and fresh tuna wrapped in crisp seaweed (so good!). Other highlights: Eel and avocado handroll or cut rolls; Amabae (sweet shrimp with fried heads); monk fish liver; Salmon, Albacore and Yellowtail sashimi. Service is always efficient and respectful. My favorite sushi chef is typically on the right side of the sushi bar - if you go often he gives you free samples in the m... read more
Best Hole in the Wall Sushi Restaurant in Little Tokyo. – My friend recommended this place after going to Sushi Gen first and saw it was full. The place is very small, they don't take reservations but it's worth the little 15 minute wait! For about two hours my friends and I dined on the best sushi, including oysters, tuna, toro, albacore, tons of rolls, tons of beer and tons of saki for less than $140!!! We really over did it with sush...oh, we also had soft shell crab. This place is amazing. Not really the most romantic pl... read more
No Frills, Cheap Sushi – The place is so small and very, very low-key, but it's worth the trip to downtown. There are many more, better sushi places in LA, but I've never found one that beats the price here. My hubby and I usually spend around $100 for our usual (nothing fancy) sushi dinner, but here, we can get full for $50-60! It's close to the museum, too, so you can walk around and do some sightseeing.
Wonderful hole in the wall – This is the cutest little sushi bar with great food. The service is good, everyone is attentive, and the sushi is the best part. No Tempura, which is a shame, but they have an excellent baked soft shell crab. The place is tiny but we never feel cramped. Been going for about 10 years now and i havent been to a better sushi place yet!
Great place, Great food! – Authentic Japanese menu, no special rolls, just the basics. Sushi is so good you won't mind dropping a nice amount of money for your meal. Great for groups, fast seating, awesome service.
