I enjoyed it!! – This place is so different. I enjoyed that fact that you can BBQ your own food and don't end up smelling. Great place to take out of towners new to this experience.

Tabletop BBQ Done Right – First off, if you don't like tabletop grillling, skip this place altogether, you'll have sparse options. That being said, everything else is fantastic. The bibimbap is excellent when paired with the meats. The clay bowl comes out piping hot, hot enough to burn the rice just the right way. The meats are great, kalbi in particular. Tuna is great when seared for about 40 seconds. Chicken I heard to stay away from. The beer comes out great, slightly iced in the summer in frosted over mugs. Best beer I'v... read more

Do-it-yourself Japanese barbecue gets a hip makeover at this jaunty Japanese import. – In Short With outposts on nearly every corner in Japan, this DIY-dining fave is like the Starbucks of Japanese barbecue. Patrons transfer the uncooked bites of meat to their own charcoal-powered grill, flip and repeat. Selections include short ribs, shrimp and half a dozen other meats doused in ta're, the soy sauce-based sweet marinade; shio, a salty sesame secret sauce; or miso. Traditional (tatami booths) meets modern (exposed overhead p... read more

Great Food and Fun for everyone! – We looked forward to this experience based upon other reviews and web info and we weren't disappointed! Gyu-Kaku is a cute restaurant offering a great variety of items to grill on your own table top grill. We tried a variety of beef items with different marinades, garlic shrimp, vegetables and sukiyake style rice. The quality was great, grilling was fun and we really enjoyed the whole experience. Service was prompt and very helpful with provided suggestions and recommendations. I wish we ha... read more

Fun times – Just went there last weekend for a friends birthday dinner. We all had a great time. The food was good, our waiter was a little slow at first but he apologized and was up to speed after that. Prices are decent as well. I would recommend the tofu salad. Super yummy dressing.

great for friendly outings. – I took my boyfriend here for his birthday after coming here with friends a previous time. Had a great time on both occasions and would consider returning. The food is good and the service as well. It's a very casual atmosphere, but looks serious only due to the fact that it's on restaurant row. I'm sure there's better places, but the overall experience is good. however, (this may be from just that one couple) i wouldn't recommend a first date at this location. the atmosphere asks for people who ... read more

Great food and good fun – Gyu-kaku is a favorite among my group of friends. The food is excellent, very well prepared, and the do-it-yourself factor means you can cook the food however you like it. They have excellent, large salads, good soups, and a variety of quality beef, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes. The key to this place is in the sauces they use to marinate the tender meats they prepare for you. The service is generally good (I've had mixed experiences), and you can order periodically throughout your meal if y... read more

amazing food that you will never get tired of! – this place is nothing but good food and good people. i've gone a couple times, once on a date, once for a birthday and another time just because. every time i've gone in, my experience was nothing less than superb. the staff at gyu kaku seems so fun and they're always willing to help. the food is great! especially since you can mix and match the marinades, i never felt limited to a strict menu. the restaurant itself has got a modern "asian" inspired feel, and light house and t... read more
