Gotta try this place! – What's better than eating steak? Eating steak the way you like it. This place is one BBQ experience that you don't have to clean up afterwards. It was a great ice breaker when I brought my blind date here over the weekend. We enjoyed drinks at the bar while waiting for a table, and the rest was great from start to finish. Friendly staff, great service, wonderful decor. If you want to try more than 1 type of steak, without having to order too much, then this is the place. Everything was a la carte so w... read more

LOVE IT! – I LOVE this place! This is always a go-to favorite of mine with friends or out of town guests. The food is high quality, and since you cook it yourself at the table you have control over how rare or well done you like it. I haven't had one dish here that I did not like. Great sake selection - the flavored sake is REALLY good (don't know the name, ask for it). The atmosphere is fun fun fun and the service staff is smiley and attentive. You really do need a reservation as the space is small, and the grill in the mid... read more

Great Japanese BBQ – If you are looking for high quality Japanese BBQ, then this is the place for you. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, and you cannot go wrong. The vegetables are always fresh and the meat is top quality. Bear in mind though, with the quality comes a price. A person can expect to spend around $50 a person on a meal. It is worth it though. The service and the food are always top notch.

Decent food - but pricey! – The food is good. The portions are small so you will want to keep a menu at the table. On our last visit, the service was lacking. They were not attentive. I would understand if it was busy, but there were only 2 tables. My water was empty for about 15 minutes. The rice did not arrive with the meat (we ordered it in the beginning). It was tiring to remind them of basic things we needed for our meal (plates of our meat were forgotten, we did not have utensils, & asking to get our water refilled). I... read more

Best happy hour – Love this place for happy hour. $2 draft beers and half off the specialty meat. WHat goes better with beer than salty grilled meat.

Worst Korean food served by a Japanese restaurant in LA. – Encouraged by all the fanfares in the media about Gyu-Kaku, I decided to check one out in Los Angeles. We were a group of 8, and was seated right across from the Men's rest room, that was a bummer. But with enthusiasm, we ordered beef, salmon, shrimp, vegies, and so on. Many knows that almost all of the foods served in Gyu-Kaku are of Korean cuisine, and not Japanese. But that misrepresentation is perfectly OK as long as the food tast good. To everyone's disappointme... read more

had better. – okay this is a big chain place for bbq. that doesn't mean it is the best. i've been to two locations. wla and san fernando. had to wait twice. ambiance is good. service is good too. pricing might be a little high. but i just can't get over the way they cut their meat! they are all so uneven! sometimes i get a chunk and sometimes i can't even pick them up with my chopsticks! i like the meat simple. they are too sauced up to figure out the quality of the meat.
