Love the meat!! – I love this place. Great array of choice cuts to grill over fabulous charcoal grate. Excellent, interactive fun, with righteous soju cocktails. Great for casual dates or folks out of town.
Fun – The ambience here makes it a great place for a fun, romantic dinner date. Try the filet mignon, the sukiyaki bibimba and the zucchini - all very delicious. Skip the salmon miso which lacked taste compared to the other food items. The food portions may look pretty small but by the end of the meal, we were full.
Fun & Good Food – I got addicted to GK after being a regular at the W LA location. I must admit I liked the small atmosphere of the WLA restaurant, but the La Cienega one grew on me. If you're looking for authentic KBBQ, you will be disappointed, but if you keep an open-mind, you'll appreciate the Japanese (and I think very American) twist on the KBBQ theme. My Favorite Place for a Dinner Date – This is one of my favorite restaurants here in LA. The food it very tasty (a mix of japanese/korean) and their service has always been excellent - probably because at the end of each meal the servers give the customers a survey/rating card. The food can get a bit pricey but it really is worth it. (I usually end up spending $50-70 for a dinner date). There is limited street parking, but they share valet with the adjacent restaurant (Fond du Chao?) for about $3.
User review by nweiss – I'll admit it's not the most authentic, however it is a chain AND trendy, so what do you expect? Also, it's a Japanese BBQ place, not Korean so of course they're not going to have authentic Korean food! The food was tasty, the service awesome and the vibe fun. I'd come back.
fake $ Korean food--no thanx – Take it from a Korean and a friend who works there--Gyu-Kaku is not authentic Korean food. Involuntary visits find the menu annoying, the bibimbap and kimchi are tasteless and the meats are not marinated well. The menu screams poseur Korean food and the galbi came out as 3 little pieces and the bill was ridiculous. Avoid this place at all costs and to Koreatown Los Angeles--the epicenter of real authentic Korean food!

korean BBQ, american-style – we decided to try this place out recently, since we kept passing it. i ordered the garlic shrimp and scallops, my husband ordered two different types of beef; according to what the waiter recommended. it took a while for our grill to get hot, but once it did, the food cooked relatively fast. the portions are pretty small, so you have to order a few dishes per person. my food was ok, nothing special. my husband's beef was marinated well, but the cuts of the beef were really bad. it felt like cheap... read more
The Review – Good service, Good atmoshphere, and wonderful food. My wife is Korean and loved the food. The sign of a good Korean resturant is the approval of one. Service was attentive and could be on par with a 4-seasons or Ritz Carlton. The energy of the restaurant and staff was good. I hope your experience was as good as ours.
