The restaurant is simple and has been designed quite nicely with wood furnished tables and chairs and the walls are decorated with artistic posters and paintings. The food here is served in huge quantities and the menu has a lot of variety and also includes gluten-free dishes and pastas. Live music events are organized here on certain days and they also cater to private events and functions.

Great beer selection, but unfortunately you won't get what you order. When I attempted to order a second saison, I got an IPA. When I pointed out the mistake, they switched my order for another wrong tap - again an IPA. Finally they said what I had in round 1 wasn't a saison and that's where the mistake was made. I gave up. If your servers can't handle 15+ taps, don't offer it.
Had the Mahi Mahi Quesedilla special and my husband, the Fried Oysters. All was delicious!
One of my all time favorite restaurant in town. It's a must go every time I come in to town to visit. Even when there are a wait I am still satisfied with the food.
Great little historic tavern in down town Newburyport. Varied menu with good options from pub food to dinner and nice selection of craft brews and wines. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Just needed some apple crisp on the dessert menu to compliment a fall day in New England. ����

I hadn't been to The Grog in a couple of years, but went with some friends to see a neighbors band there. We had dinner upstairs chowder and Grog burgers and it was phenomenal. good food, great service, nice crowd. The live music downstairs was so much fun and we danced off the burgers and enjoyed drinks in a friendly party like atmosphere. We will be back again, soon.
I've been coming here since I was a kid. The place hasn't changed much, but the food is still amazing.
