The only historic inn that does not provide in room television. My wife and I have been to and support historic inns when we travel.
Love the Gris!... Essex is such a quaint, nautical setting to begin with - then add great food and company... how could anyone have a bad experience??

Visited for the first time last evening. The food was excellent, as was the atmosphere, and most of the service very good. May have been an off day for our waitress though - not very friendly. 😕 Won’t stop us from going back for another try.

It’s unfortunate that your server was not on her game as we generally pride ourselves on what a great service staff we have - both professional and friendly - and usually we receive comments reflecting that. Wish we knew who your server was on that evening...Nonetheless, we appreciate your willingness to give us another try!
This ambience was amazing! They have a holiday menu for food and drinks - I had the Holiday Old Fashion. The food was very good - the prime rib was perfect, in portion and taste. The short ribs were a good portion, if you order a side vegetable - I did. The staff were dressed in old fashioned attire and Christmas Carolers went around to all the tables. Ambience is everything! I will go back.
