Stayed for an overnight with my husband for my birthday. Room was nice with a fireplace, comfortable bed. We had a nice walk around the town and the dinner at the Inn was delicious. We will be back!

Well, I love the Tap Bar. Loud, fun, and great music every night. You can always depend your favorite group will be there on “their” night to play. Psychedelic 60’s is my favorite, they play Friday Nights. The lunches are great. The other very unique thing they do, is offer reduced price for food & rooms when there is a huge snow storm.

Went today for a drink and appetizer and unfortunately had a horrible waitress. Took over an hour and a half to be served one drink, an appetizer and then to get our bill. She never once checked to see if we needed anything...like waters which would have been nice. She spent most of her time at the edge of the bar on her phone or flirting with an older gentleman that seemed to be a regular. I would highly recommend any other restaurant in the area over here because of the lack luster service.

Surprised the wife with the Gris "Romantic Package"... We were pleasantly greeted with chocolates and champagne in our deluxe room with cozy fireplace... We then had a delicious dinner in the very comfortable dining room where there was enjoyable live entertainment. Staff was friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our 1st stay at this historic Inn and restaurant... Can't wait to return in the warmer weather and enjoy the town and waterfront.

Essex and the general area is wonderful to experience from the water perspective as well so If you do come back in summer or fall we recommend getting out on the River in a kayak, or aboard a "captained" vessel - motor or sail. Magical place around the holidays, especially the Christmas carolers singing to you at dinner. My junior suite was beautiful as well, very relaxing, a great place for families.

We truly enjoyed the Inns Sunday Hunt Brunch! The food was delicious , and the ambience lovely.. Although it was during the busy Christmas season, the service was attentive, and quick! Our waitress even took the time to take a few photos for us! Thank you for a fun experience once again... �

I took my wife here for an overnight stay. The room was spacious and clean. The Inn and town were so charming. We had dinner at the Gris Friday night. My wife had the duck and I had the cod. Both meals were very good and the plates were piping hot. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will certainly visit again in the future.
