I loved this place. Large historic building converted to a restaurant. I started the the Texas Torpedos that were a little spicy and yummy. Then a hamburger which was very juicy and cooked perfect. We were seated a table over looking the Guadalupe river, just beautiful and the service was fast and courteous. I will go back.
We got there late after spending the day at Schlitterbahn, but were sat quickly. Our waiter had just started another big table so it took him a little bit to get to us. However, he took great care of us. He was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some welcomed recommendations. I had the filet special with mushroom sauce. IT WAS UHHHHMAZING! One of the best steaks I have ever had! Great atmosphere and would love to go back and spend more time in the area.
Excellent food and neat atmosphere! We had a bit of a wait to be served after being sat at our table but our server was great once he got to us. Would love to go back!

Ask for Siena, a server who remembered our order from 2 weeks ago and asked if we wanted the same dishes. I was floored. The service was excellent and so is the food, with generious portions.

Food was great, as was our waitress! There was 32 of us. She never forgot anything. Kept our glasses full and even brought extra ice. Great place!
The food is good, but to be honest, the gristmill is just overrated. The wait is too long, it's too hot, the service is slow, and it's not worth the drive from San Antonio for a special meal like it once was. If you find yourself in Gruene, give Mozie's a try. I haven't been disappointed there.
