I love the Gristmill! Awesome food and best place to eat on the river !
Disappointed is one to describe our recent experience at Gristmill. We have been eating here for years and the last few times the quality of the food has really gone down drastically. On our recent visit our food was barely warm, steaks were burnt, chicken fried steak was bland, burger over cooked, fries cold, frozen drink was not frozen more like ice mixed in drink, and I could go on & on but I can say the onions are still good.

We arrived early on Sunday, before noon. Seated right away. Outdoor table was cooler with a breeze. As it warmed up, the fans with misters were turned on. We loved the food and the service. Those servers were hustling! Highly recommend!
I have tried several times to go here and after spending the weekend floating both the Guadalupe and the Comal Rivers, we took a chance and made it here yesterday (Sunday.) Although our waiter forgot one person's drink, he was very courteous and friendly! Yes, it was hot, it's the middle of summer, and although we were all very hot from being on the river all weekend, it was not unbearable. If I had known (and I guess I should have read reviews) there was no air conditioner I would have passed on going. We decided to go there before heading out to the Miranda Lambert concert. Word of mouth about how good the food was the motivator. The waiting area us outside with misting fans but it was really too hot to make that much of a difference. It's August and in the 90s. Had the pepper filet... the tenderest steak I have EVER had... and our server Jessica was outstanding! highly recommended Yep, it was hot but helllooooo... it's Texas in August.... DUH!
My husband and I went this weekend to celebrate our anniversary first time there and let me tell you the food was delicious!!! The staff were super friendly and also our waiter. He surprised us with a delicious dessert for our anniversary! We are definitely going back! We love gristmill!
Worst experience ever. I can't believe it's still a popular restaurant. Service was horrible. Misting fans are great during the day when the water evaporates, but in the evening, the water just settles on everything. After asking for the manager twice, the finally turned them off. By that time we were all soaked. Drinks were not made correctly. The person in our party got his food well after the rest of our table. The waitress "forgot" to put it in.
