Best chicken fried steak ever! The greenbeans are awsome too!
Best ribs anywhere! I don't eat them anywhere else anymore as they just can't compare to the level of The Gristmill's ribs.
Excellent place to enjoy lunch with my love. Baby back ribs were delicious.

My husband and I have been Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar many times and we have never been disappointed. We were there yesterday 2/07/2017 and we ordered the grilled chicken breast with mashed potatoes and the chicken was so juicy and tender and very tasty and well seasoned as well as the mashed potatoes. We heard the trail riders were going through Gruene and decided to stay and watch. We had an absolutely awesome day in Gruene and we will be back!
Food was amazing. I had the ribs, the wife had a sirloin salad, and we had the torpedo chingaderas. Staff is friendly and fast.
Great food and atmosphere. Love eating by the fireplace in the winter and outside by the river in spring and fall. We enjoy the menu selections and their specialty drinks are fun!

Gristmill is a very historic building, converted to a restaurant. seats a lot of people but at prime time there is usually a waiting period. Food is good, expensive but not as much as it could be considering the nature of the area
