The pets wait for their fur ever families to find them in clean, comfortable kennels that resemble a showroom. It is never dirty, it smells clean, and the volunteers (& employees?) are clearly dedicated to being sure the pets are compatible with their potential adoptive family (while not being snarky and elitist like certain groups are).
Low cost shot clinic and microchipping the first Saturday of each month from 12-2pm! Chips $20, bordetella $10, HW test $15, 1 yr rabies $10, 3 yr rabies $20, distemper $15, FVRCP $15, FeLV $18!!
Consider adopting a young or adult dog. They adapt quickly & many are already house broken and ready to go.
They are amazing people. To take care of these animals day in and day out you have to have love for them, and these people do. They go to great lengths to make sure that every animal there has a fair chance at adoption. If you have to give an animal up for adoption then you should definitely contact the GBHS and give your animal a chance. They give the animal plenty of time to find a home. It's better than Euthanization.

Great Place! – The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is a wonderful place to adopt a pet. I adopted my lovely dog Oliver from their facilities and I couldn't be more satisfied. They along with great service and care of the animals participate in the state of Alabama puppy mill raids. I highly recommend the Greater Birmingham Humane Society!
