The room had been recently remodeled, well done, in period decor that was in keeping with the age of the hotel. The only concession to modernity was the flat screen tv on the wall.
The people were great and the hotel just went through an extensive renovation. Everything was clean and had that 1880's ambiance. Restaurant food was good and service was friendly and above average. I rated our stay 4 because the beds weren't as comfortable as I like and 4.5 wasn't an option. We would consider staying again if we go back to Silverton.
Great stay. Extremely clean beautiful restoration. Brings you back in time. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Friendly staff especially the gentleman that runs the front desk.
What a Grand Hotel! Remodeled and very nice...saloon and restaurant are new and improved as well! Definitely worth the trip!
We really enjoyed our stay in Silverton - due in large part to the excellent service and facilities at the hotel. Recommend taking the train from Durango - spending the night at the Grand Imperial Hotel, and taking the bus back to Durango. Also recommend you take the Historic Narration train - entertaining and educational!
