This restaurant has a nice mom and pop feel my wife had the fried clams it was enough for 2 people. The service was excellent and the food 🥘 was good.
Horrible wait staff. The service was ridiculously slow. Never updated us on our food order (which took forever). After we got our meals (finally) waitress never came back to check in. Chowda was cold. Food was actually decent. Just totally poor staff. Too bad, things could have been different. Stay clear!!
The food was not fresh. There was nothing special about the food. The only thing I liked out it all was the soup.

Terrible service, the waitress literally threw plastic forks on the table at us. Was told corn chowder was "sour" and they served it to me anyway. Walked out, awful experience.

Came to Maine to work on a flower farm and just did a quick Portland stop on the way home. Gilbert's was recommended by one of the local artists I met on the street. He said it was A Ma Zing and he was right. Can't wait to bring my whole family back!!!
Ate clam cakes for first time, good stuff. The super seafood cup always impresses and satisfies, and it did again. Staff is fun and energetic.
