From the bizarre name of Genghis Cohen, you'd think this was an Asian kosher delicatessen. You'd be wrong. The menu is strictly Chinese (besides the coleslaw & pickles) and it's good. The crowd is a mix of those who come for the Szechuan pork, and younger music types who'll either perform or patronize the acoustic music room that's just off the entrance. Although it depend on who's playing, you can usually get into the music room with a nominal fee. Come for the food, but stay for the music.

Solid as a Wok – This is actually a much better restaurant than a bar. Try the Queen's chicken, cilantro shrimp and szechuan green beans. The New York eggroll is awesome. So are the pan-seared dumplings. Just about everything is worth a shot. Watch out for the mustard. I defy you to find hotter mustard.
Great atmosphere – We recently stopped by for dinner and a show, and really loved the atmosphere here. The classic chinese restuarant vibe, including excellent fruity drinks, spacious and comfy seating, and dim lighting was perfect. The performance space was really cool. We also found the service to be fantastic. The food, while decent, was unfortunately just OK. The best item we had was the Queen's chicken. The other items we had seemed well prepared, but nothing really blew our minds.
The Ultimate Showcase Place – Very cool place. Part of a Chinese food restaurant, the bands play in a small room, where you can grab a seat and watch, or sit at the bar, and watch through a huge window, or watch from the TV moniters. For bands, a great place to be seen and heard.
Unplugged Music – A favorite haunt of unplugged singer/songwriters, this intimate venue is haven for raw talent amid the chaos of the rock scene. It's quieter than most stages -- maybe that explains the pew style seating -- like we're supposed to be in church or something. Centrally located, it's a great location to stop on your way between destinations, though once inside you might not want to leave. It's very cozy, non-pretentious and friendly.
Love the Food – Queen's Chicken and Crackerjack Shrimp are not to be missed. The food is great and the atmo is cool yet still kid-friendly.
GREAT PLACE – i stopped in to see a band, "jim's fault" a band a friend of mine introduced me to. Genghis is a great place for showcasing bands. one of the best. and jims fault was superb again. check them out at jimsfault.com at any rate,, the barmaids are nice the atmoshpere, and decore excellent. the crowd if a nice mix of all types. check this place out,, you will like it.
