There are wonderful programs presented and special interest groups that meet at GFO throughout the year . They have subscriptions to several of the major genealogy sites like Ancestry (the World) and Find My Past. There are books on every state, many countries, and different subjects from how to do genealogy to DNA to Surnames specific books. What a treasure we have in the GFO right here in Portland, Oregon. Parking can be tricky so check out the info on transportation to GFO and parking in the area.

The BEST all-volunteer run organization I have ever encountered. Would that I had more time to participate more fully. So, I always urge joining to people I encounter doing genealogical research here in Oregon who are non-members. Treasures there be therein--Border State collection is impressive--and the people, too.

This research library has wonderful resources including volunteers who are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra to help you find your missing relatives. Workspace is good. Classes to help assist in your research are frequently given and the hours are very accommodating. Excellent value for your money.
