About this business

A passionIn the late 1920s Edward Gallrein Sr. started a dairy farm business in Jefferson County Ky. He started with only about 17 head and over many years it grew to over 400. Overall, an excellent place. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and clean. The corn maze was neat but it was very long and hot. Our 4 year old daughter got tired about half way through. I would recommend taking some bottled water in the maze if you attempt it and be prepared for a good distance walk. I think kids a little bit older than 4 might enjoy it more. As I said, a very nice place overall and we will be returning soon.

Spent the morning at Gallrein Farms....a first-time visit there. My dear friend and I LOVED the place and, with the Labor Day crowds gone, the market was nearly ours alone to enjoy. Very clean and spacious facility full of wonderfully fresh and beautiful produce, lots of great local foods and wares (great gifts!) and a friendly and knowledgeable staff all made for a fabulous day! We stocked up on fresh tomatoes, corn and lots of canned pickle varieties...even available for sampling at the sandwich shop. Our lunch was delicio... read more

I was very very disappointed in the canning tomatoes this year. Bought 6 boxes and they were all green on the inside. By the time you cut away the green you had a tomato about the size of a plum. I've bought tomatoes over there for the past several years and was really displeased this year. The taste was nothing like a home grown tomato as you advertise. They had all the characteristics of a greenhouse tomato - either grown entirely in a green house or picked green and put in a green house to ripen.

Business response:

We are so sorry this was your experience. Canning tomatoes were in such high demand that they were being picked and sorted, but may have needed some time to ripen. hopefully you will give us another chance in the future. Have a wonderful day.

Usually I would give the farm 5 stars, but not this year. I called a few weeks ago about getting canning tomatoes. I was told they'd been in the next week. So, I drove from Louisville to the farm the following week only to be told they'd had canning tomatoes, but we're only selling them to people on the waiting list. I was kind of upset about that since I wasn't told about the waiting list when I first called, but I just made some other purchases and added my name to the list. Again, I was told the tomatoes would be in Thurs... read more
