ea I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE! I took my little Westie dog in for 4 vaccinations yesterday; the distemper, parvovirus, corona and bordetella (all booster shots). He was given all 4 shots over 30 hours ago. My dog is in distress. He has two (2) very large bumps on each hip. He is not eating or drinking much at all. I had to bring water to his lips. I have had to carry him up the stairs. He is lethargic, weak, and he was shaking earlier today. He can barely move, and we're 30 hours after shots. I called that OFFICE this morning... read more
Worst Vet EVER !!! Took our cat in for a routine spaying, and the had the worst experience EVER. We chose this vet because it was closest to our house. Don't make this mistake! The "doctor" seemed rushed and uncaring, the staff was basically sleep-walking through their duties and worst of all our cat still suffers from a large distended area where the "surgery" was done. The "doctor" responded to our concerns by mocking us and basically saying that "everything is fine...I know what I'm doing, and you don't". After a week, th... read more
Spaying is $400???? So, I got a referral from SNAP (spay and neuter action program) to bring in my cat to get spayed for $50. My husband calls me to tell me its going to be $400. So I talk to the bimbo at the desk and she tells me they have to do a freaking blood test, stool test, nail trimming, blah blah blah. So finally I tell her that we are only paying for the spaying since I have a healthy kitten and she doesn't need any bells and whistles. My friend who works for SNAP said they do hundreds of spays a day on their bus w... read more
Rude Bunch This is a strange crew at Friar's Rd Vet. I felt as if they didn't care if I brought my animals to their hospital or not, but, since I did, they would tolerate me. They were not warm toward my pets like many animal hospitals tend to be. I would suggest going some place else. There are numerous vets around San Diego.
Do NOT take your pet here The staff are rude, unprofessional, and fail to review your pet's treatment adequately or discuss treatment options/alternatives with you. They (temporarily) paralyzed our dog and caused him a lot of pain from what should have been a simple procedure. After doing some of my own research, I found out that there were other treatments available that would have been better.
Uneven care... 4 months, countless tests, and hundreds of dollars later my dog still had exactly the same problems under the 'care' of Dr. Twitt. Problems that were treated correctly and fixed in one visit when I was mistakenly scheduled with the actual owner of the practice, Dr. Petersen. Advice: Ask for Dr. Petersen (only works Mondays) or you are better off going somewhere else.
skilled and experienced professional I just looked up my vet's phone number and was surprised to see the negative input here. I am compelled to make some observations: Dr. Peterson has a DVM from Davis, about two decades of experience, and a houseful of rescued animals. For well over a decade he has overseen the care of our four dogs and four cats. He always explains options, and, as pointed out below, he is anything but a salesman. Charges are all explained and itemized in advance. We've only required one surgery (dog spay)... read more
vet 4 life Io have heard wonderful thing about thisvet. Has a strong history in the community and a good reputation. I have taken my pets there and would take them back
Overcharges My cat was having an allergic reaction where her fur was falling out in her haunch areas. In addition to the office visit fee, I was charged for a test to see if she had scabies - only to tell me that there was no evidence of scabies, but she probably had it. The biggest kicker was that the medicine prescribed was to be given once a month for 3 months, but they only had 6 month packets, so instead of $60, I had to pay $120 without using the second half which had an expiration date. Won't go back.
