On Saturday 9/28/2019 I called an A/C repair company, Four Star Plumbing & Air Conditioning, Inc. because my A/C was turning on run for 15 seconds and shut off. The person came out went around to check the unit, cleaned sludge from the pipe running down the side of the house, went into the attic and checked up there. When he was done he said I had dirty contact on some overflow switch that kept the A/C from running it's full normal run. He said other things I don't remember. When we arrived on this job, another restoration company had already been here and customer dismissed them and asked us to provide an estimate for the needed repairs. There was laminate in her living room area that needed replaced as well as carpet in the bedroom. Her insurance company was covering the replacement of the existing flooring in both areas. I've used Four Star Plumbing & Air Conditioning in the past to clean our AC units in our condo that we use as rental property. I had them replace our 2 units today and the staff was very professional and I'm very pleased with the warrant they offered. ***** ******
Called them yesterday to find out why my unit was not working. They showed and after 30 minutes said needing to clean coil and that my unit was to small. They could help getting financing for new and larger unit. Had another heating and air conditioner man come and guess what . He found the tubing for air flow was disconnected and laying on the ground. He reconnected and surprise It's working. Four star only charged me $185.00 to try and sell me a new unit. I spoke with the technician that performed the service call. The findings were that the coils were indeed dirty and needed to be cleaned (dirty coils restrict air flow, causing the system to send warm refrigerant back into the home. This in turn causes the system to run longer and make the unit unable to keep temperatures during high heat loads) and that the unit was slightly low on refrigerant charge.
