RecommendedRestored to the spirit of its 1939 origins and better than ever. Like stepping into LA Confidential with Lana Turner. Second bar in the back saved from an old hotel in Chinatown and the trolley car space opened so you can eat inside and look out its windows into the new bar area or sit outside and for the first time see part of the car’s exterior: the oldest surviving red car trolley! Serious mixology and the food is great too!

Pulled in on a whim, after decades of driving passed. Had a great time with bartender Gideon. Great drinks while he filled us in on the history. We will definitely be returning to try some of the food.

The Formosa Cafe is located on California Historic Route 66 (Santa Monica Boulevard). I was taking a few pictures for the #CHR66A Roadsigns newsletter and decided to checkout this recently reopened Rt66 icon. The food, service, and atmosphere did not disappoint. (Route66CA.org)
