History Established in 1946. In 1930, my grandfather Robert Kittredge along with his brother, a pet monkey and a baby coyote, drove into Oak Creek Canyon on one of the first motorcycles built by Harley-Davidson. They bought the property which is now Forest Houses Resort, for $60 per acre and began building the Log House, their dreamed-about citadel in the woods. The Log House took three years to finish. RecommendedWas a guest this past weekend and the best word I can use to describe my time there is bliss. The grounds are beautiful. Wild flowers and rose bushes all along the large lawn in the center, stone stairways leading to some areas of the property, birds..blue jays, robins, hummingbirds, all around. No cell service, WiFi or any TVs on property. There’s a market/cafe about a 5 min walk up the road that we went to for coffee, that was delicious, and the people working there were a delight. My family has been going to Forest Houses to rest, relax and rejuvenate for two decades. Bob and his family take great pride in the property and the services they provide all of their guests. The cabins are all unique, rustic, reflections of everything that is Oak Creek. We can't imagine life without Forest Houses. Come and fall in love with the simplicity of creek life.

One of my most favorite places - haved stayed in Trout House several times, View House, and Sycamore - all great!

My husband and I stay at Forest Houses every year for or wedding anniversary. We started in the Overlook and this year stayed in Mary's House. I can't heap enough praise on this magical, like anti-resort dream. It's much more like staying in your own private vacation house. We love it!!
