History Established in 1946. In 1930, my grandfather Robert Kittredge along with his brother, a pet monkey and a baby coyote, drove into Oak Creek Canyon on one of the first motorcycles built by Harley-Davidson. They bought the property which is now Forest Houses Resort, for $60 per acre and began building the Log House, their dreamed-about citadel in the woods. The Log House took three years to finish. RecommendedForest Homes Resort is absolutely wonderful. We stayed in The View House and loved it. The entire resort is beautiful. The staff is great also. I highly recommend staying in any of the homes!
Had the BEST time here. Stayed in the Tree House for our anniversary. This place is magic.

Beautiful place, horrible horrible staff!!! Was just threatened to be kicked off the property if we invited another party to stay up in a completely separate cabin. Was entirely rude and will never stay there again!!!!
Way too hot and humid in the summer without AC (and I live in phx). We sweat the entire time which ruined it. Months later when we followed up in the pet deposit they said they kept it because our dog was barking which was a complete lie...it was someone else's dog. Way to lose customers over $40.

We just spent our 40th anniversary at the Diamond House and it was perfect. It was peaceful, comfortable, and welcoming.
