i dont care what you say two guys back, this place rocks. – Flying Pie Pizzaria is a little gem just a wee bit further out of the inner SE that i happily stumbled upon one day. The place has a very old school feeling about it.. and all the guys that work there are really friendly and upbeat. There are pizza crusts to choose from from new york to chicago style... and yes there is an abundance of toppings........... but i am a vegetarian and this couldnt have worked out better... vegetables are good for you.... and if you love... read more
Up near the top! – There are many good places for pizza. This one is among the best, especially for NY style. It is in my rotation of favorite pizza spots.
Absolutely the worst pizza I have ever had in my entire life. – If I could give negative stars I would. Uncooked dough. Simply disgusting. Maybe the place is just on the skids, since the good reviews were posted. I love pizza and have never walked away from a slice before. I took 2 bites (the second only as I couldn't believe my tastebuds), forced myself to swallow and just left the restaurant. It will probably be a few weeks before I can even stomach the thought of pizza. A good cleaning and fresh coat of paint couldn't hur... read more
Uncooked Dough – I research around to see where to go for some good, deep dish pizza; I found some good reviews on here and called in an order. I ordered the Supreme II with what's regular crust on the menu, and also "Well-done" since I like mine nice and crispy. I drove 20 minutes to pick up what's supposely one of the best pizza places around PDX, looking at the huge and loaded toppings, I can hardly wait until I get home to devour the tasty pizza. I have to say, it was tasty except the dough wasn't cooked all the way! My ... read more
Flying Pie is mediocre....period. – It's really too bad that Portlanders have no clue what outstanding pizza is. Yeah there's a handful of decent pizza places, but NOTHING to brag about. I agree with with everyone who complained about the ridiculously long wait, and the overabundance of toppings at Flying Pie. Don't give me any garbage about getting your money's worth by getting flooded with a half-pound of pepperoni. Have you ever watched the Food Network's specials on pizza places? You sure don't see toppings dominating th... read more
Drive 150 Miles Just for the Combo Pizza – I have never had a better pizza than the ones at Flying Pie. I live in Bend 150 miles away. My friends and I will often ride our motorcycles to Portland for the day just to get a combo MEAT!! pizza. There is NONE BETTER!! It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Flying Pie, Here I come!! AT the age of 61 I have tried a lot of different pizza and know what is the BEST!!
been eating here for ten years and still love it. – To only a few of the knuckle-heads who say it's the worst..Too many toppings? Go elsewhere and NOT get what you paid for. You bet that if I buy a $30 pie, it had better have some substance. Had to use a knife and fork..boo-hoo. To anyone complaining about having to provide a receipt..bummer. How would you like it if some person came up and claimed your food? You'd most likely be more frustrated with that. To the person who said there is only one restroom with a burnt out li... read more
More is not better – 11/29/07. Ordering was relatively quick. Guy taking out order was nice, easy going. We liked the staff and the atmosphere. We ordered a half and half pizza. The wait was less than stated and when we got our pizza we were looking forward to a nice hardy meal. I had pepperoni on my half. WAY overloaded. The crust (thin) couldn't handle it. It was soggy. The only crisp part of the crust was the very outside edge. My wife had Ms. Piggy on her half. 3 times the meat as the pepperoni, so it just looked like a ... read more
Don't Try It – This pizza is simply boring. It kind of ruined a night. After working hard all week long it was time to go out for some good cheap eats... pizza, But this pizza was not pleasing at all. Texture was poor(very soggy). The toppings were not so fresh. The sauce was very unevenly spread. I can't believe this joint has any recognition in anyone's book.
