I was a bit apprehensive to have cataract surgery. After waiting 3 years, I made an appointment with Dr Shield. He put me at ease right away with his confidence and friendly manner. He said it would take approximately 15 minutes and he'd make sure I was comfortable through it. During the procedure, he explained what was going on and checked on me to make sure I felt OK. All I can say is if you are skeptical , nervous or anxious don't be ! I was all three but I have to tell you it was a GREAT experience . I had my lasik surgery done 5 days ago and I am very pleased the price , very mild procedure and the outcome of my vision . I would like to thank Dr. Shatz for an outstanding job on my eyes . On my 1 day post op visit I was at 20/20 in my right eye and at 20/14 in my left . I never saw that good with my glasses or even contacts . I had done quite a bit of research prior to choosing my physician for LASIK since I wanted my eyes to be in good hands. I am so happy I picked Dr. Shatz. I honestly cannot say enough good things about him. He is very calm, kind, and trustworthy, and he made me feel very comfortable. The procedure was as close to painless as possible, with just a bit of pressure with the clamps and microkeratome but it was very tolerable. The doctors may be great here but I wouldn't know...we waited an hour for my 2 1/2 year old to be seen with little to no communication from anyone and no sign of the doctor.

I would say that I am anxious of surgeries and having procedures done. I had an excellent experience with Dr Shields who put me at ease and did a wonderful job. I had cataract surgery in each eye and it was a very positive experience. I also travel over 45 minutes to get to him and he is well worth it. very highly recommended!

I had cataract surgery with Dr. Shatz about 3 weeks ago. I am so pleased! The procedure was easy (a few minutes of very mild discomfort) and my vision was improved almost immediately. The care at the Cataract and Laser Center was great, people were really kind and reassuring, as was Dr. Shatz. The best thing about it? I hadn't realized how much my vision had changed in terms of color and brightness; I was seeing through a brown/gray film. The world looks bright and beautiful and new again!

I just had my LASIK surgery with Dr. Shatz yesterday, and I already have 20/20 vision!!! I was very nervous about this procedure; however, he and his team were very attentive to all my needs, explained what to expect before, during and after the surgery. He even called me a few hours later to check on the status of my recovery. I only wish I came here a year earlier when my husband did. He is still talking about how well he can see and how pleased he is. We highly recommend LASIK with Dr. Shatz to anyone who is interested.
