Erte Restaurant is a cross between a traditional supper club and chic nightclub. It appeals to the young, hip crowd yet draws guests from all lifestyles. With cool jazz piped through the roomy dining area, darkly painted walls and somewhat subdued lighting, there's a certain funky feel to place. The menu features succulent steaks, fresh fish and seafood, poultry and vegetarian entrees. The halibut is fresh, moist and flaky, the steaks are thick and juicy and the chicken is lip-smacking good. Shrimp, crab or chicken pasta dis... read more

The Much-Improved Erte – The Mr. and I had been here a few times earlier when we were dating. The experience was okay, not fantastic, and not horrible. The other night we were looking for a restaurant, and I found Erte in the Happenings book. We were reluctant to go since we had such mediocre prior experiences. When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff. We were treated to wine samples until a table opened up. Once our food arrived, it was absolutely delicious. Erte has improved in my bo... read more
Northeats – Erte is magic. I went recently for dinner with a friend and lucked into one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in awhile. Our waitress was a gem. Her recommendation of the crabcakes was spot-on. I fluffy cake with real crab and great aioli. I had the bone-in ribeye rare/medium-rare...perfect! Juicy, perfectly fatty in the right places and overall one of the better steaks I have had. My only suggestion is that the broiler be a bit hotter to melt the fat. Otherwise, perfect. I highly reccomend the ha... read more
Wonderful! – My boyfriend and I visited on Valentines Day 2004 and had such a wonderful time. We made reservations and we were 15 mins early and still seated right away. Our server helped us to pick a great wine to go with our steaks which were tender and cooked to perfection. The salads and sides were wonderful and the music was fun but romantic! Maybe they really stepped up the service to impress for Valentines Day but we can't wait to go back!
food = nothing special – I wasn't very impressed with the food. The quality was amazing - everything was fresh and crisp - but it was so bland! The ambiance is great. The decor is amazing and the owners have done well with such a small space.
Change of menu – I've been a regular (once a week) customer since Erte opened. Today I had lunch there and the menu has changed-fewer options and most of the prices have increased. They have certainly lost me as a lunch patron. I may have dinner there when I want to share some of my funds, but definitely not for lunch. If I want to have a good steak or salmon for lunch there are plenty of other great places to do so. I will miss Bill, the waiter though....he's an excellent waiter.
Finally... – After a string of bad luck at restaurant spots, I hit on a dinner at Erte. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and just as ordered. Good portions, very reasonably priced, including the wine list - not to mention some interesting glass pours. And the server actually recommended a wine that was a very tastey Zin. If they try to tell you the side of mushrooms might be enough for two, they're lying - they're easily enough for 4 or more!
More Cheese Please! – Well, as far as cheese and fruit plates go, this one is phenominal! I got almost full of the plate itself! So many kinds of cheese and a lot of it! The fruit was fresh and excellent. We had a wonderful bottle of Louis Latore Chardonnay, and it's one of the only places you can find it. The service was great and the specials - watch out! HUGE portions! I'll be eating leftovers for a week, but great for the price! The seats are covered with these cute little leopard print panels. It's hidden away, but I'm ... read more
forget the steak- go for brunch! – we've been to erte for brunch, lunch and dinner and their brunch leaves the rest in the dust. as you sit down, they bring you a plate of banana bread with fresh whipped cream as a breakfast appetizer. the menu includes specials like pineapple-coconut pancakes with banana rum sauce or a "newport" crab cakes benedict. great food, very reasonable prices. and to top it off, a great piano man playing live music while you eat. we take all of our out of town guests here.
Pretty good – I've been there twice and was happy, although not ecstatic, both times. The decor is nice. Seating is all in one big room, which can be a little noisy. I had a steak both times and it was good. I don't like having to order sides separately, but that's how it works at Erte and a lot of other restaurants. The wine list was small but moderately priced and we found something we liked.
