This was probably the worst meal that I have ever paid for. – The staff was very friendly, but the food was awful and the menu was ridiculous: "Cowboy Shrimp," and Nachos on a fine dining menu? Are you joking? Aside from the equally dumb names for their dishes the food was so below average I felt bad for the restaurant. I ordered a $28.00 porterhouse and received a slab of Grissel and oily au gratin potato's. We literally left the restaurant drove to Lunds and cooked a far superior meal for half of the cost.
Great Food and Ambience – There doesn't seem to be a review written for a while and Erte keeps getting better and better. My wife and I rarely go two weeks without a visit. The fish specials are consistently wonderful, the hashbrowns (we get a half order to share, which covers the entire plate), are excellent. The service can be a little un-even, but several of the servers are an absolute joy. Awesome! – Everything was wonderful - the service was delightful, the steak was cooked to perfection, the wine list was very affordable with great selections. The only downside of the evening was the size of the wine glasses - a little on the small side. But everything else more than made up for that!
Terrible service! – Sat at a table in the bar for dinner on a Sat. night - took the server 20 minutes to come over to the table (the bar was NOT crowded), another 30 min. to get our drinks. He would walk by our table as if we were not even there! We finally just left some cash (he never came back with the bill after we requested it from additional sources, even with the bartender) and went to the Sample Room for great service and food as usual. Erte was a waste of time.
We were disappointed with Erte! Two people were running the entire restaurant/bar tonight. We called last week to make reservations. Warm chardonnay and cloudy martini's. One waitress tried to handle the tables (5 seated tables). A table of four got up and left after waiting for service. The waitress mentioned bottles of wine were 1/2 price. We ordered a nice Red and were told they were out of that particular wine. She suggested an Australian Shiraz that is $7.00 retail per bottle. No thanks. We ordered a drink. We watched h... read more
Good food – This is a great steak place. While it is not one of the "Big Three" steakhouses in Minneapolis, it is good. Pricing is good. You won't drop big bucks on dinner. The au grautin potatos were a disappointment.
Love it – Service must be fine-tuned yet this is a definite worthwhile visit. Cool space similar to an open-hall in days past. Awesome old school ceiling. Can get loud, and sometimes echo, but with the live music that often plays, this cuts back on customers loud chat. Food is great, reasonably priced, and valued correctly. I do enjoy the steak and the ala carte side dishes. For cocktails, the newly (somewhat) added Peacock Lounge is AWESOME! Beautiful atmosphere with live music up high. Classy establishment.
Slap in the Face – Went for a birthday celebration and it was anything but. The food was mediocre at best. People had to send back food - two for their cold and lumpy mashed potatoes; one for their supposed "famous" steak that was charred to the point of tasting more like Kingsford than meat. good dinner – I went here on a date on a Saturday night, and it was a great time. I recommend the Midsummer Night's salad -- strawberries and brie to die for. Server was very friendly and attentive, and the live music was tasteful but not boring. Good times.
