We were treated so bad upon entering the park, I have no desire to return or tell anyone else to. My wife was told she had to get back in vehicle and could not walk in with others to pay for our admission. They wanted us to go around and park in another lot, even all the other people were going in and out where I let her out. Then upon entering the park office I informed the young Lady at counter how disrespectful the two men were on the outside, and the only thing she was interested in was how many in our party. It is truly breath taking. We went in April and the weather was prefect. If you do climb the rock make sure to bring lots of water. I have bad knees so the climb up was ok but coming down I had to take several breaks because the pressure on my knees hurt. My knees hurt for 2 weeks after but so worth it to see from the top. They have a lot of very steep areas. Next time I will not hike up the hill but instead do the big loop.
Get to the park before 9 a.m. or you may not get in at all. We were turned away and spent the day at a winery in Fredericksburg.
I love this place just going to sit and let thing go. Great views and good climbs. When they say get there early they mean it. Got to the park this morning at 8:20am and had about 50 cars in front of us.
