Shame on you Edward's Hospital for turning away a service dog because she was a pitbull. Way to promote pure ignorance. Are you aware of the level of training and testing dogs go through to become certified as a therapy dog? Not all dogs are capable of becoming service dogs and their that can are truly special regardless of their breed!
It is shame that Edward Hospital turned down the application of a K9to5 Nationally Certified Therapy dog based on the fact that the animal is a pit bull. Hospitals are an incredibly difficult place to be, especially for a child and I couldn't imagine anything more comforting in such a stressful time than the love of a dog - regardless of it's breed. Someone alert the media - the child is being snuggled by a pittie!!! Really saddened by the continuing discrimination against this breed.
I just delivered my first child at Edward 5 days ago. First, my labor and delivery nurse was simply amazing. She was supportive, calming and encouraging. I will never ever forget her encouragement through my contractions and her guidance when it came time to push. The lactation consultants on the mother/baby unit where also amazing! A first time mom trying to figure out how to breastfeed can be stressful but they put my fears and hesitations at ease.
