Vintage photographs of family members provide a charming ambiance. Due in part to the location, this restaurant enjoys a great deal of popularity with artists and business people alike. Outdoor seating is tempting in fair weather. Traditional Tex-Mex dominates the menu, but an unusual alternative is available in the form of Mollejitas, or sweetbreads. Of course, they are not for the faint of heart, so order with caution and enjoy. Finish off your meal with some sopapillas or flan.

Prepared with TLC – El Tiempo moved into the old Dixie Road House and thereby saved us some driving. Best is the grilled quail. But the sauces and meats taste like somebody is cooking back there who really enjoys cooking.
Poor quality – The food at El Tiempo Cantina -Richmond location- varies from bad to inedible. The fajitas were rubbery and dry, the flavor was below average. The fish taco was inedible; the fish meat was probably several days old (it smelled like old fish). The enchiladas were about 80% cheese and 20% sauce and tortillas; and the cheese was not 'queso fresco'.
Avoid I-10, Downtown is good Review of El Tiempo Cantina by LarryBrown October 05, 2002 Remember, I'll almost eat Alpo without noticing. We went to the fancy and impressive looking El Tiempo Cantina on I-10 around Blalock. Inedible! I had a combo platter that featured about 5 items, I couldn't eat a single one. I just left it there on the plate. I didn't even let my wife pack it up to take home. Later I went out with the guys from work downtown and they took me to El Tiempo Cantina there. That was much better! Actually prett... read more
love the the menu, food has so much flavor. Lov ethe outdoor patio. Best sides for mexican food.
Great Fajita – This place offers one of the best fajita in town. I particularly like quail fajita here. I tried different tex-mex places every weekend, no place can really match the taste of the quail here. I love green rice and warm salsa also. This place is a bit too noisy.
Fajita Loco – The best mexican restaurant in Houston bar none. I am a Mexican Food enthusiast and I can say that their chicken fajitas are the best I've ever eaten. The menu is robust but can get pricy. The fajitas for one are enough for two, which helps. Magaritas will knock your socks off. Be careful! Richmond location is a happening happy hour. Bottom line, if you haven't eaten here, it's a must!
Cynderilla – This place has GREAT drinks....but be very careful. The alcohol content in those bad boys could start a forest fire. Just a bit of information, take it slow because they will bit back.
Can't get any better – I have been to El Tiempo before but recently I went for my birthday dinner and I had the best time. Food is outstanding and the waiters are the best around. Fun place, great staff and EXCELLENT FOOD/Margaritas!
This is the best place in the world!!! – I love this restaurant! It makes me happy, it has the best fajitas, and the service is excellent. The scene is very authentic and fun. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a real love for mexican cuisine and having a good time.
