El Rancho was built in 1948 by the Jahnke family as a trading post. They sold the building in November 1953 to Mildred and Ray Zipprich, Milwaukee Wisconsin pie distributors. Their daughter Donna and son-in-law Paul McEncroe joined them in February 1958 and operated it, with their children, until 1988. The beer is mediocre, at best. The menu descriptions look good but when the food arrives, it's just so-so. Crappy service on the two times I've been there. I wish this review were different because it's a neat location with fantastic views but I cannot recommend. Head on over to Lariat Lodge for the trifecta of great beers, excellent food and friendly service.

I ordered the half barbecue chicken and it was baked chicken with BBQ sauce slathered on it. The baked beans had an obvious canned taste. The remodel is great and the beer and wine were good but I probably won't come back here because the food is just average. I am taking most of the chicken home so that my husband can "fix" it for me. Service was amazing with the sweetest waitress katie. We got samples of the beer first and were very happy with having that option. Portions were huge, none of us finished our dinner. We shared a piece of delicious cherry pie. Very cool place !
Except for the long hair that was twisted in the piece of beer batter fish!!
