Great dining experience – We just tried East India Co. and were very impressed. The best Indian food we have had in Portland. Our server was very nice and helpful. Given how good it was, we were a little surprised that it wasn't busier on a Thursday night - a lot of empty tables. It's certainly a lot better than India House which is nearby and seemingly always crowded - not sure why!
excellent location and service. – This is one of the few good Indian places in Portland. Good non-veg food. Veg food is ok. Service and attitude of the wait staff and the owner/manager is excellent and forgiving, especially if you are taking kids along. All the food is North Indian i.e Punjabi/ Rajasthani.
New twist on Indian food, but can't bring myself to go back! – Up until the point when we saw the bartender stir my drink with a straw, take a sip, and then place it on the counter for the waitress to deliver.... we were having a lovely evening! Overpriced average Indian food – Well, When our food came out My boyfriend and I looked at each other and started laughing. Our portions were so small. We are not big eaters as it is and we were so shocked. It was not bad food it was good a bit gentrified for our taste. Don't recommend.
Good Indian Food The East India Co. has great food and reasonable prices. It does get busy since it is downtown, but every place downtown gets busy. This is worth the wait if you like Indian food.

Some of the best Indian food in Portland – East India Company really is quite wonderful, and I'm always surprised more people aren't familiar with it. It has a rather unassuming facade, and is easy to miss when driving by, but inside it's an easy and elegant space.
