Austin's most renowned hotel, The Driskill is stylishly grand and opulent. It has recently had the mother of all makeovers. It is an ideal abode because of its proximity to both the corporate as well as the entertainment districts of Austin. The rooms are splendid; each of the 205 guestrooms have been done up in turn-of-the-century Victorian design. If you spend the night look out for the supernatural, some claim this hotel is haunted. Take a walk down the beautiful lobby bedecked with hand-made marble, hand-painted ceilings... read more

I spent two nights in Austin and stayed at the Driskill. I will never go anywhere else. The room, hotel bar, amenities, history, and location make it my favorite place to stay. The cafe next door has got great breakfast dishes and the hotel itself is conveniently located to some of the best parts of the downtown area. Rent a bike and ride around, talk to the locals and other tourists, find a dive bar and grab a few drinks. Keep Austin weird!
Historical, Well appointed and elegant. Service lovely.
Beautiful and comfortable! Close to nightlife. Want to go back.
Very elegant. Beautiful interior. Excellent service.
Authentic, yet true to its era in the old section.
I've spent 10 of our 15 Wedding Anniversaries in the hospital. This was the 2nd yr that I've been able to actually go out celebrate & my Hubby wanted to do something special for me. We've always wanted to visit The Driskill so he took me there!! We had the most wonderful experience! Everyone there made our experience magical! The Driskill Grille was SO wonderful and the 1886 Cafe was AMAZING! We could not get over how absolutely beautiful every inch of the hotel was! From the moment you walk into the Lobby you know you're in... read more
Of all the times walking by on 6th Street and gazing at the sheer beauty of this elegant masterpiece, finally made it in to schmooze around in the swanky upstairs lounge. A very happenin place on a Saturday night to say the least...next time we'll check in and stay awhile longer :)
Went in there after driving from Killeen to Austin and having prior permission to take some family photos tonight. Got there, watched many people use cameras with flash. My family comes and I pull out my camera and flash and management comes on an attack. The guy , Matthew Simpson, tells me that my camera is "too professional" and my flash is not allowed. We were told over the phone, twice, as long as no tripod were used, we could come in and take photos. The manager on duty ,by the name of Matthew Simpson, could not refute thi... read more
I proposed to my fiance this past Wednesday at the Driskill grill. When I made the reservation I let them know I was proposing and they made the evening so special for us. The hotel itself is amazingly beautiful. We enjoyed walking around and taking in its rich history. There was an orchestra playing Christmas carols as we walked in and stared at the big beautiful Christmas tree. The dinner staff could not have been nicer. Host and manager greeted us as we walked in. Server and food runner were outstanding and knowledgeable.... read more
