Always always always get a second opinion!!! I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal cancer and my second time meeting him he said I would have a permanent colostomy bag. I had barely gone through chemo yet. After I did chemo and radiation - I was told it would take 8 to 12 weeks for us to see how much the tumor shrunk.
