I have found Dr. DiMattina to be extremely helpful and understanding throughout the infertility counseling and treatment process. I was first referred to Dr. DiMattina by another physician for treatment of a non-fertility-related gynecological problem, and then later stayed with him for infertility treatment. There is no question that he is a realist and a pragmatist, so if you're looking for hand-holding and rose-tinted outlooks, this is not the physician for you. That said, I have always found Dr. DiMattina to be courteous... read more
Very friendly at first - then during treatment was extremely abnoxious, condescending and impersonal..would have to remind him of my case every single time and in the end-his treatment was not the best for me. Generally a very bad doctor but his staff are very nice and helpful.
As mentioned by others, better stay away from this doctor! He was pleasant enough at the beginning when he thought the chances of IVF working was good. However, when he discovered something wrong (tubal disease in one tube), his true character surfaced. He recommended a very aggresive surgery option (it was called aggresive by other doctors I have seen since then), without never fully explaining it to us or ordering more test to ensure his diagnosis was correct. His recommendation was in effect to render us solely reliant on... read more
As noted by many others, please stay away from the doctor! He is definitely out for the money. Early on, this doctor recommended that I have IVF without knowing the full extent of my circumstances. I had testing and all of my results were fine, my husband was tested and this doctor told me that the results were not good. He did not ask any questions with regard to how the specimen was transported and never recommended that my husband redo the analysis. He continued to push for IVF. Needless to say, my husband and I went to a... read more
Sorry that so many people had bad experiences with Dimattina. I thought he was wonderful! His staff could not be more lovely, and I didn't pay a dime upfront. His financial people resubmitted and fought with my insurance for ever dime they owed us. I can't say enough good, and I pregnant with twins!
We were very disappointed with Dr Michael DiMattina. In general, he appeared arrogant, cavalier and cynical. He made promises to work out what is happening but then does not deliver. We never felt he gave serious attention to our specific case. My wife had two blighted ovums (both natural pregnancies) under his care. The first time, we were out on the street - stunned and virtually in tears - within five minutes of being told the pregnancy was doomed. The second time, he told us she should have a natural miscarriage rather t... read more
I had an emergency surgery with Dr. DiMattina for him to remove one of my tubes that was infected. While under anesthesia he decided to remove both tubes leaving me unable to get pregnant without IVF. After the surgery his comment to me was- ok I'll see you in about 2 months for IVF- of course that would be $20,000 that my husband and I don't have. So now we're left without being able to have kids because he decided he would make a fertility decision for me. I won't waste my time with commenting on how unhelpful his office s... read more
I wouldn't go back to this doctor. They charge 25% of their fees upfront regardless to what has been agreed with the insurance and when the insurance pays them they credit it to your account but it is up to you to request a refund... in the meanwhile your money is building interest for them. There are other practices that are more personal and caring to their patients.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the office provided personalized care.
