Like many of the reviewers on this site, my wife and I found Dr. DiMattina to be arrogant. He overestimated his abilities, oversold the likelihood of success, and underestimated and underplayed side effects from potential procedures. As a scientist myself, I found this doctor’s behavior to be unethical and the manner in which he talks to patients to be condescending. My husband and I had an incredible experience with Dr. Dimattina and I highly recommend him as a doctor. I found Dr. Dimattina to be very personable, knowledgeable and thorough. He took the time to answer all of our questions and he and his staff always made themselves available to us at all times. He even discouraged me from buying the ivf guarantee program because he was so confident that I would get pregnant on the first round of ivf. Dr.D. is one of the most knowledgeable and responsive doctors I've worked with. He was respectful as we made difficult decisions about treatment, gave us all the information we needed, and ultimately helped us achieve our goal and we have a healthy son. I would recommend Dr. D. to any of my closest friends and family. Infertility and its treatments can be physically and emotionally draining, and I felt Dr. D never forgot that, and was always responsive. His partner Dr. Gordon, and his staff are wonderful too.
Dr. Dimattina was very arrogant and egotistical. I had a fertility procedure where he was talking to his associate about golfing. I had to keep asking the nurse what was happening. I found out that many fertility probelms can be solved by putting both partners on an antibiotic.
I don't recommend this doctor. There are some incredible fertility doctors/clinics in the Washington, D.C. Metro area and Dominion Ferility is not one of them. Although the nurses were pleasant and helpful, the financial staff was uninformed, unprofessional, arrogant and almost combative. From reading the reviews below, this seems to a top-down phenomenon. Office Staff were nice. The doctor was horrid! He has NO bedside manner whatsoever. You don't take someone so desperate to have children they go to a fertility doctor and tell them they're fat and you refuse to treat them.
Found office staff, nurses and financial office very helpful. But Dr. DiMattinia comes across as arrogant and unintested in the patient. Infertility may be routine for him, but he treats it like it's no big deal for the patient either. He repeatedly told me to "read his book" rather than taking the time to explain things and answer questions.
Be careful with this doctor, he demanded that IVF was the only potentially successful treatment for me even though my husband and I had normal test results. I went to another fertility doctor and had got pregnant with IUI on the second try, THANK GOD, I am now 17 weeks pregnant! He is out for money!!!
If you are looking for a doctor to provide all good news - Dr. D is not your man. However, if you are looking for someone to provide the facts and discuss the options that will work, he is the right choice. Fertility treatment is hard and emotional, but I would rather have someone telling me the truth than giving me false hope. I am now pregnant with twins after 8 months of tests and treatments. Dr. D is weak in bed-side manner and strong in techinical skills. Make your choice.
