Ferkel is the best doctor! He cares and you can feel that from the moment you meet him. Very invested in the longevity and recovery. His team all work together and are caring and kind. I broke my leg in a bicycle accident in April and had to have emergency surgery to have a rod placed inside my tibia. Dr. Ferkel wasn't the surgeon who did the initial surgery, but I'm very grateful that I found him to complete my care and the healing process. I came to Dr. Ferkel very concerned about my previous care, as I was still unable to walk normally or go up and down stairs. It was very disheartening. He is an amazing doctor, very informative and also very comforting. Outstanding orthopedic surgeon, explained the procedure he was going to do. Very knowledgeable and checks on you after surgery. Very caring doctor. Would recommend to others.
SCOI's reviews are justifiably abysmal; the staff, particularly Dr. Ferkel's elusive coordinator, is frustratingly disorganized. Luckily, these inconveniences are temporary. I only have to put up with the staff for a few months, but I must live with the surgery results for life, so I chose Dr. Ferkel for his authority in lower-extremity orthopedics and his caring disposition. For my fellow BIPOC, I want to add that Dr. Ferkel showed me the same care and respect that he shows every patient and never dismissed my concerns. Sad... read more
Dr Ferkel is a great doctor and his care team in the surgery center are the best his entire team is great. He was late to the surgery by about 4 hours and he said the machine he needed was being used and the other one was broken so perhaps that can get fixed so that wait can be reduced for others
Dr Ferkel was amazing through the whole process. I had a snapped ACL that he repaired. Im healing perfectly and the incisions look like they wont even be leaving much of a scar.
Dr. Ferkel is at the top of his field. He is also transparent, trustworthy, and sincerely interested in his patients' health. His coordinator, Jenny, is almost impossible to reach and inexplicably dysfunctional, but do not let that deter you; it is absolutely worth putting up with that frustration for Dr. Ferkel's high level of care. Always assume Jenny won't follow up and use the GetWell portal for communication once you are granted access.
