Bottom line is that I feel better than I have in years, better than I knew was possible. I'd learned to cope with and try to ignore fatigue, extreme moodiness, joint pain, etc. because other doctors, even my prior endocrinologist told me my problem was psychological! Dr. Borenstein was thorough, patient, and figured out why I was feeling crummy (which I never expected---I just wanted to make sure things didn't get worse!) The icing is the respect with which I have been treated. I feel like he sees me as a human being. Further... read more

I have been seeing Dr. B. for about 1 year. He was and is so highly recommended for treating hypothyroidism. It's been disappointing to me to see how rushed and scattered he is. He seems to be moving through the motions with me and I cannot get him to stop and listen no matter what I try. Overall, he will prescribe Armour/compounded meds/T3 only, which makes him a rarity and I appreciate that. He will test vitamins, antibodies, etc. and will give b-12 shots and various adrenal supplements which can be very helpful. However, ... read more

STAFF: STRESSED OUT RECEPTIONIST. Dr Borenstein may know his facts about adrenal glands and the thyroid but when it comes to TALKING TO THE PATIENT, HE NEEDS TO IMPROVE. Every time I go to see him it is the same thing, he sits me down. He barely looks at my face. He tells me what he has to tell me (takes 2 minutes) and then walks to the doorway of his office and asks me if there is anything I wanted to ask him. WHAT??! Buddy, I just sat down a minute ago. HE WANTS YOU IN AND OUT. He might be knowledgeable about things but he... read more

I am so happy to have found Dr. Borenstein. When I first visited with him, I was already on Synthroid yet still suffering utter exhaustion, pain and brain fog. He ordered an exhaustive blood panel, had my hormones tested, thyroid sonogram. He then prescribed a course of treatment which included tweaking thyroid meds, hormones and vitamin supplementation. It's been several months now and I have such a sense of well being and energy that I truly feel recalled to life. (Btw, someone here suggested he must make $ off the vitamin... read more

He did not review my labs before seeing me. I followed his protocol, called the office, asked if labs ok. I was told if wasn't he would have called. I had an appointment several weeks later and found out he over medicated me, and I became HYPERthyroid. I was feeling unwell, but didn't attribute to my thyroid because he didn't call me, and that's because he didn't look at my labs until I sat down in front of him. Then he started circling what was wrong. A doctor is supposed to review your labs, then call you if you are not in ... read more

On the positive side, Dr. Borenstein still accepts insurance, though he clearly seems to resent this. He will take thyroid related symptoms seriously, will order comprehensive lab work to evaluate above, is willing to prescribe Armour thyroid, and will consider "out of the box" treatments. On the negative side, he is often rushed, scattered, at times dismissive, does not take a careful history, or seem to remember patient specifics. Gives the distinct impression that his bottom line is more a priority than focused quality pa... read more

Dr. Borenstein brought me back to life. I really thought I might be dying I was so exhausted and sleeping all the time, after 10 hours of sleep I'd get up and as I finished my morning coffee and literally be thinking "I could use a nap". Life was not worth living. My hair was falling out. My digestion was terrible. I felt like a zombie. I'd seen 4 or 5 other doctors and specialists and they all sent me for a test or two and claimed I was fine, "take some iron pills and come back in 6 months". One even said "your tests are fi... read more
