Dr. McDonald has been our family physician for 20 years. We followed him when he joined Inova. As another reviewer noticed, he rarely looks at you when he is talking. However, he listens carefully, is thorough with follow up questions, is always up to date on treatment options, and has been able to guide us through several serious medical issues. Dr McDonald provided excellent patient care during a physical. He reviewed my history, thoroughly discussed my objectives for the visit and demonstrated his medical expertise and deep knowledge when discussing health concerns. Great attention to detail and considerate of my needs. I look forward to continued care at this facility and with this Doctor. Dr. McDonald has been my GP for 10 years and I've had nothing but good experiences with him and his staff. He's very calm and methodical which I appreciate. He's also got a lifetime of Dad-style medical jokes which slay with his deadpan delivery. He's diagnosed a couple things which I totally attributed to something far more serious and spent time walking me through the issues.

Dr. David Mcdonald saved my life a few years ago by detecting prostate cancer at stage zero!, Later, the proctologist surgeon found it difficult to believe that a general practitioner could have detected this life threatening condition with just a finger probe John Pellegrin

Dr. McDonald was very rude and dismissive. Patient went to him with multiple concerns but after addressing the first question the doctor got up to walk out of the office. When patient told the doctor he had a couple of other questions/concerns the doctor responded “Cmon, really?” and these were very serious symptoms and concerns. If you don’t want to help people, don’t become a doctor; and if you are burned out then retire already! But don’t belittle and dismiss your patients. Shame on you!
